This paper exposes the systematic, deliberate, and multi-layered strategies used to conceal atrocities committed in Tigray between 2020 and 2022 — including communication blackouts, infrastructural warfare, narrative manipulation, ethnic disappearances, UN institutional capture, and the creation of what the author calls “death-worlds,” drawing from Achille Mbembe’s theory of necropolitics.

The Tigray genocide is not only one of the deadliest conflicts of the 21st century — with up to 800,000 deaths reported during the first two years alone — but also one of the least visible. Understanding the mechanisms of invisibilization is essential for justice, prevention, and global accountability.
