Earlier, UMD Media spoke with residents in the area and obtained video footage recorded at 9:21 a.m. local time on Thursday, showing no visible security presence around the residence of former Tigray Interim Regional Administration (TIRA) President Lieutenant General Tadesse Worede, in contrast to the heavy security deployment observed in previous weeks.
The footage was consistent with witness accounts that the patrols and soldiers stationed around the residence had disappeared since Tuesday evening. However, it did not independently confirm whether Tadesse himself was inside the residence.
Following UMD Media’s report that the security presence had disappeared and that Tadesse had not been seen since Tuesday evening, the outlet has obtained updated information from three independent sources regarding his whereabouts and security situation.
One source said he remains at his residence while his security detail has been substantially reduced. Of the approximately 25 security personnel previously assigned to him, 17 have been withdrawn, leaving only eight. Security vehicles have also been removed.
The source said the personnel withdrawn two days ago left his residence in the Qelqel Debri/Tombola area and have not returned. The source rejected claims that Tadesse was "missing."
A second source, who attempted to contact Tadesse directly but received no response, also said people close to him confirmed that he is at his residence and "safe." According to this source, the only significant change has been the reduction in his security.
His security team has reportedly been cut by about half, with around 10 personnel removed, while two of his three security vehicles have also been withdrawn, leaving only one.
A third source who spoke to Tadesse told UMD Media that, apart from the suggestion that he was "missing," the rest of UMD Media’s earlier report was accurate.
