The latest appeal follows three earlier statements released on the same day: the first, in Tigrinya, called on Tigrayan society to unite against renewed conflict; the second, in Amharic, urged Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to prevent war by addressing Tigray’s constitutional and humanitarian demands; and the third, also in Tigrinya, called on the TPLF to halt war preparations and begin a national dialogue among Tigrayan political forces.
In its international appeal, Salsay Woyane Tigray warns that rising tensions between the Ethiopian government, the TPLF, and other actors could trigger a devastating conflict with regional and global consequences.
It calls on the international community to exert maximum diplomatic pressure on both the federal government and the TPLF leadership to halt military mobilization and war rhetoric, while urging sanctions against actors it says are fueling the crisis.
The party also calls for the unconditional resolution of humanitarian and constitutional issues, including the return of internally displaced persons, restoration of essential services and budget allocations to Tigray, and full respect for constitutional order including the status of occupied territories.
It concludes by urging the international community to use all available diplomatic, political, and economic leverage to bring the parties to negotiations before hostilities begin.
