Tigray’s Capital Mekelle city is witnessing peaceful protests in response to alleged discriminatory practices targeting Muslim students in Aksum. The demonstrations are being led by community members expressing solidarity with the affected students.

According to reports, a local school administration in Aksum has reportedly refused to admit female students wearing hijabs to attend their classes or register for examinations. Despite directives from the court to allow the students to proceed with their exams, the school administration has allegedly defied the order, leaving the students unable to register.

Protesters are calling for an immediate resolution to the issue and have emphasized the need for respect and accommodation of religious rights within educational institutions. The demonstrations are expected to draw significant attention, with calls for accountability and adherence to legal and ethical standards in handling such cases.
